I am often asked if there really is a "Bills Bunker". I suppose there is of sorts, because I am the proud owner of a military house on a former RAF base. It is the biggest "militaria" item in my collection and the one I actually live in. I have tried to keep it as original as possible, even keeping some of the original furniture and fittings. It is always interesting to take a peek at where other people live, so come on in and take a look around.....

This is the PC room where this website is produced and created, the desk top picture is the KdF ship Wilhelm Gustloff and the gas mask canister was found on the battle field and is used as a pencil case.

Every "hobby historian" needs a collection of books and these shelves are nine foot high and cover two walls. Many of my reference books are 30 or more years old, but the internet although useful will never replace the "feel" of an old book.

I am two years into a five year project. I read original newspapers and magazines, watch original films, newsreels and follow the war day by day, this project will not finish until May 2012. The pins represent the war situation for the 21st November 1941 (Photo taken on 21st Nov.2008).

German war diaries and several British publications, these are read by me each day and are part of the project with the map. The campaigns seem very different if one follows them in "real" time, it creates a totally new feeling for the study of military history.

Any meaningful research into military history demands the use of original source material. Many articles written in newspapers could be lost forever and it is only with dedication that they see the light of day and are then shared by the likes of you or I.

Down in the bowels of the Bunker one has to climb over military equipment, all of it from WW2, some of it from antique shops in the local area, but mostly from family members in the UK over the last 40 years.

Another view of the depths of the bunker, in the background a sand table used in war games. During some strategy games there can be anything up to six dedicated wargamers in the room.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed your tour and please do come again.
